Requirements
- 12+ years of aerospace certification experience with FAA processes and international regulatory authorities.
- Experience achieving FAA Part 23 and/or Part 25 type certificates or EASA equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience leading or managing engineering teams.
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Strong knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 21, 23, 25, 183, and familiarity with Parts 43, 145, 91, 135.
- Experience with Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) management.
- Proficiency in systems engineering, requirements decomposition, and standards such as DO-178C, DO-254, and MIL-STD-882.
- Knowledge of safety assessment methodologies including FHA, FMEA/FMECA, FTA.
- Working knowledge of military airworthiness standards like MIL-HDBK-516.
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity frameworks (RMF, NIST SP 800-53, CMMC).
- Understanding of airborne cyber security standards DO-326A/ED-202A and DO-356A/ED-203A.
- Experience with autonomous or unmanned aviation is highly valuable.
Responsibilities
- Lead civil certification strategy for U.S. and international programs as the primary technical authority.
- Manage civil certification projects from initial assessment through final approval.
- Lead and develop Military Airworthiness and Cyber Certification teams.
- Oversee military airworthiness strategies and resolve Military Certification Review Items.
- Guide cyber security certification strategies across civil and military programs.
- Partner with engineering and quality teams to integrate certification activities into development processes.
- Drive continuous improvement using audit findings and evolving regulatory guidance.
- Establish scalable certification frameworks for civil and defense programs.
- Report program health, certification risks, and resource needs to senior leadership.
