Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in energy markets, or 7 years of experience working on utility-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Familiarity with key concepts and commercial structures associated with renewable energy Power Purchase Agreements.
  • Experience managing solar, wind, or battery storage PPA negotiations from the bid stage through execution.
  • Understanding of Eastern U.S. power market design (e.g., ERCOT, MISO, PJM, SERC, ISO-NE).
  • Ability to evaluate quantitative implications of PPA provisions such as curtailment, LMP basis, and bidding strategies.
  • Familiarity with power procurement regulatory processes.
  • Strong ability to read, analyze, and negotiate legal and commercial contracts.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills for presenting complex commercial issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with cross-functional technical, financial, and legal teams.
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% for meetings.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor power market fundamentals, customer demand, and regulatory developments to identify commercial opportunities.
  • Develop commercial analyses and recommendations to support leadership decisions.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with utilities, municipalities, and corporate offtakers.
  • Prepare and lead the submission of bid packages for RFPs and other procurement opportunities.
  • Own the PPA negotiation process from initial term sheets through final execution.
  • Serve as the primary commercial contact for PPA counterparties.
  • Partner with internal teams such as development, finance, engineering, and legal to resolve commercial issues.
  • Structure commercial terms to mitigate risks and maximize project value.
  • Prepare high-quality strategy presentations and board materials.
