Requirements
- Significant product management experience with a demonstrated ability to operate autonomously and lead through ambiguity.
- Proven experience managing physical hardware products, particularly rugged, outdoor, industrial, or field-deployed devices.
- Strong understanding of the trade-offs involved in environmental ratings, physical interfaces, and device longevity.
- Systems-thinking mindset to integrate hardware, sensors, firmware, edge computing, and cloud software.
- Strong customer discovery skills and experience establishing continuous feedback loops.
- Demonstrated business acumen, including understanding of COGS, margins, unit economics, and P&L.
- Experience managing complex product lifecycles, from discovery and development through launch and end-of-life.
- Strong cross-functional leadership skills to align Engineering, Operations, and Sales teams.
- Ability to strategically prioritize and make difficult decisions to protect focus and resources.
- Experience working with complex procurement processes or government/enterprise buyers is highly valuable.
- Ability to respond to industry standards and regulatory requirements for physical infrastructure products.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder-management skills.
Responsibilities
- Own the strategy, roadmap, adoption, and business outcomes for a critical portfolio of physical device products.
- Define a clear long-term product vision by anticipating technology shifts and market signals.
- Develop connected, software-extensible device platforms that account for ruggedization and long hardware refresh cycles.
- Lead the complete hardware product lifecycle from market discovery through to launch and end-of-life.
- Establish internal and external discovery practices to validate assumptions and identify opportunities in edge AI and sensing.
- Drive high-stakes product and platform investment decisions using customer insights and supply chain considerations.
- Build alignment across Engineering, Operations, and Go-To-Market teams around product strategy.
- Advocate for the device portfolio through industry standards bodies and regulatory working groups.
- Develop business cases and evaluate product economics including COGS and margins.
- Ensure hardware decisions support long-term software evolution across sensors, firmware, and cloud platforms.
