Requirements
- Led successful state-level or national issue-based advocacy campaigns.
- Demonstrated experience with the legislative process in at least one state, including policy research, drafting, lobbying, and implementation.
- Knowledge of unique political dynamics in at least one state, including relationships with decision-makers and funders.
- Experience managing teams, including coaching and training mid-level and senior staff.
- Track record of working collaboratively and managing coalitions with diverse interests.
- Track record of leading organization-wide change initiatives.
- Ability to travel up to a week per month for site visits and retreats.
- Willingness to maintain a professional social media presence on behalf of the organization.
- Commitment to nonpartisan mission and advancing racial equity.
- Strong communication, strategic thinking, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Slack, and Zoom.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support State Directors to ensure teams meet programmatic, financial, and operational goals.
- Collaboratively set goals to ensure alignment between state, programmatic, and operational priorities.
- Guide state teams to develop strategies based on their specific political landscapes.
- Represent Common Cause externally to donors, policymakers, and coalition partners.
- Lead organization-wide change initiatives to ensure alignment between state, program, and operations teams.
- Support state teams in fundraising activities, including grant drafting and reporting.
- Provide professional development and coaching to strengthen state team management.
- Build expertise in democracy and electoral policy to support state-level work.
