Requirements
- 2 to 4+ years of experience in a transaction monitoring or financial crime risk-related role within financial services.
- Deep understanding of financial crime typologies including money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, sanctions evasion, bribery, and tax evasion.
- C1/C2 level proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Proven ability to use expert judgment to recommend the filing of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to digest large data sets to spot patterns and trends.
- Experience in cross-border payment analysis and applying risk-based screening approaches.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, members, and regulatory bodies.
- Proactive mindset focused on process improvements and operational efficiency.
- Flexibility to work shift patterns (five days on, two days off, not necessarily weekends).
Responsibilities
- Monitor and investigate alerts generated by automated transaction monitoring and sanctions screening systems.
- Conduct comprehensive, risk-based reviews of customer accounts and transaction histories to identify suspicious patterns.
- Synthesize information from KYC/CDD profiles, public records, adverse media, and internal data.
- Contact members via email, chat, or phone to seek contextual information while maintaining confidentiality.
- Draft and present detailed, well-reasoned SAR recommendations for regulatory filing.
- Analyze potential sanctions hits against international lists (OFAC, EU, UN, HMT) for cross-border transactions.
- Proactively identify and suggest process improvements to increase efficiency and fraud prevention.
