Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in applied natural sciences (forestry, ecology, natural resources, or biogeochemistry) strongly suggested.
- Master’s in biostatistics, statistics, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data collection, analysis, and interpretation of natural ecosystems.
- Significant experience in carbon modeling and statistics.
- Applied understanding of wetland hydrology, soil organic carbon accounting, and water table dynamics.
- Proficiency in Python and advanced Excel modeling.
- Experience with carbon market standards such as ACR, CDM, VCS, FCPF, and CAR.
- Knowledge of Verra’s Methodologies VM0033, VMD0050, VMD0051, and VMD0052.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel to remote project sites in developing countries.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical design and review of blue carbon projects focused on mangroves and tidal wetlands.
- Utilize advanced biostatistical techniques to analyze and interpret carbon emissions data.
- Develop and review technical aspects of AFOLU carbon projects including methodology development and carbon monitoring.
- Build predictive models in Excel and Python to forecast carbon emissions and growth for carbon projects.
- Manage the collection of in-situ land use and land cover data to assess project feasibility.
- Conduct site visits to verify fieldwork and oversee biomass inventories in developing countries.
- Support Project Managers with multiple international projects while ensuring tasks remain under budget.
