- Minimum two years of experience as a peer recovery coach, peer support worker or addiction counselor.
- Minimum two years of experience in a medical practice or behavioral health field.
- Experience with documentation within an electronic health record.
- Personal experience with substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and recovery, or close relationship with individuals navigating SUD care.
- Ability to relate to and empathetically discuss the unique challenges faced by individuals in SUD treatment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated cultural awareness and responsiveness.
- Understanding of confidentiality requirements for client information.
- Ability to practice self-care to maintain emotional and mental well-being.
- Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a contact point between established clients and the Bicycle Health program.
- Offer peer-based support through one-on-one coaching and facilitation of peer support groups.
- Document within the electronic health record in real-time while visiting with the client.
- Utilize patient management tools to track client progress and maintain engagement.
- Engage clients in conversation and education about substance use, treatment, and recovery.
- Identify barriers to full participation and communicate with clinical team members.
- Apply the Motivational Interviewing framework in client interactions.
- Maintain communication with medical providers and support staff.
