Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Three years of payroll processing experience preferred for external applicants.
- Experience processing quarterly payroll tax returns preferred for external applicants.
- Proficiency with third-party payroll databases such as ADP, Paycor, Paycom, Paychex, or UKG Ready.
- Intermediate knowledge of payroll and wage and hour laws.
- Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook), including X-Lookups, pivot tables, and formulas.
- Strong mathematical skills with the ability to perform accurate calculations and identify errors.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment.
- Ability to adapt to change and learn non-profit and charter school payroll regulations.
Responsibilities
- Communicate and train assigned clients on payroll processes and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Collect and enter approved pay information and review reports for accuracy prior to submission.
- Prepare and submit retirement reporting and payments, including 403(b)/401(k) and STRS/PERS pension plans.
- Assist staff accountants with reconciliation of payroll-related liability accounts like insurance, garnishments, and vacation accruals.
- Review client paperwork and enter new hires, address changes, and deduction adjustments into payroll systems.
- Run post-payroll backup reports and provide ad-hoc reports for clients upon request.
- Prepare audit workpapers and gather documentation for year-end audits.
