Requirements
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification (Required).
- 1–2 years of experience in outpatient or professional-services coding.
- Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines and documentation requirements.
- Ability to communicate clearly and empathetically when educating providers.
- Ability to balance supportive coaching with enforcing payer standards and compliance.
- Experience educating providers on medical decision making (MDM) for outpatient E/M services.
- Tech-savvy with experience in Google Workspace, Zoom, and EMR platforms.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- CPMA certification (Nice to have).
Responsibilities
- Interpret behavioral health documentation and coding review results and translate them into clear, actionable provider education.
- Determine whether a flagged finding is accurate and identify findings that were flagged incorrectly.
- Serve as a subject matter expert by answering provider and internal-team questions on behavioral health coding and billing findings.
- Deliver clear, accurate, and empathetic responses to providers through support channels such as Zendesk.
- Contribute to provider education efforts by drafting content and identifying documentation gaps.
- Partner with the Customer Experience team to build knowledge base resources.
- Provide insights on coding trends and recommend improvements to tooling and processes.
