Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- At least 2+ years in a Controller or equivalent role managing a full-cycle, multi-entity close.
- Demonstrated experience correcting and cleaning up historical accounting records.
- Strong command of GAAP, accrual accounting, and revenue recognition.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Proven experience migrating or implementing accounting systems.
- Experience in insurance, TPA, managed care, or employee benefits is highly preferred.
- CPA is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Sage Intacct is a massive plus.
Responsibilities
- Own the monthly financial close process across three entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Develop and document detailed Accounting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent execution.
- Partner with executive leadership to remediate historical accounting records and correct misclassified entries.
- Lead the system migration from QuickBooks to Sage Intacct, including defining the chart of accounts and validating data.
- Perform complex monthly reconciliations, including bank accounts and Per Employee Per Month (PEPM) billing formulas.
- Manage financial reporting and reconciliation for self-funded employer groups and claims disbursement activity.
- Oversee the accounting team, including AP/AR functions and Staff Accountant/Bookkeeper roles.
