Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in the physical design of high-voltage substations.
  • PE (Professional Engineer) license is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Mathcad, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must maintain a clean driving record for operation of company vehicles.
  • Ability to travel for project meetings and overnight to active job sites for one or two weeks at a time.
  • Capability to perform duties safely on active outdoor job sites.
  • Preferred: Experience with AutoCAD, CDEGS, CYMCAP, LitePro, FEAP, Southwire SAG/Ten, Alcoa, Vehicle Tracking, or SAP-2000.

Responsibilities

  • Check conduit, grounding, control shelter, electrical arrangements, outdoor lighting, and equipment vendor design packages.
  • Perform and verify complex engineering calculations including grounding, conduit fill, lightning protection, and bus design.
  • Manage day-to-day project schedules, design activities, and coordination between engineering disciplines.
  • Answer technical inquiries from construction managers, field staff, project managers, and customers.
  • Create and verify material list descriptions for major and minor substation equipment.
  • Travel periodically to customer offices and active job sites for meetings, construction observation, and testing.
