Requirements
- Bachelor degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in the physical design of high-voltage substations.
- PE (Professional Engineer) license is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Mathcad, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must maintain a clean driving record for operation of company vehicles.
- Ability to travel for project meetings and overnight to active job sites for one or two weeks at a time.
- Capability to perform duties safely on active outdoor job sites.
- Preferred: Experience with AutoCAD, CDEGS, CYMCAP, LitePro, FEAP, Southwire SAG/Ten, Alcoa, Vehicle Tracking, or SAP-2000.
Responsibilities
- Check conduit, grounding, control shelter, electrical arrangements, outdoor lighting, and equipment vendor design packages.
- Perform and verify complex engineering calculations including grounding, conduit fill, lightning protection, and bus design.
- Manage day-to-day project schedules, design activities, and coordination between engineering disciplines.
- Answer technical inquiries from construction managers, field staff, project managers, and customers.
- Create and verify material list descriptions for major and minor substation equipment.
- Travel periodically to customer offices and active job sites for meetings, construction observation, and testing.
