Requirements
- Experience with programming and scripting languages including Python, C#, MEL, PyMEL, and MAXScript.
- Proficiency in Unreal Engine (Control Rig, Physics, Animation Blueprints) and Unity (Mecanim, Animation Rigging, DOTS).
- Expertise in Maya and 3DS Max for rigging, scripting, and tool creation.
- Solid understanding of runtime animation systems, rig solvers, and physics components.
- Experience with animation pipeline development and motion capture integration.
- Knowledge of procedural animation, secondary motion, and performance profiling.
- Experience with version control systems such as Perforce and Git.
- Familiarity with shader scripting (HLSL/GLSL) for deformation or skinning is a plus.
- Familiarity with Houdini for procedural rigs and physics is a plus.
- Standard DCC tool proficiency including Photoshop and Substance.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with animators, character artists, and gameplay engineers to ensure efficient workflows and high-fidelity content.
- Translate animation team technical requirements into actionable engineering and pipeline solutions.
- Diagnose and resolve complex animation issues including rig behavior, deformation, skeletal hierarchies, retargeting, and physics.
- Design and maintain modular, animator-friendly rigs for characters, creatures, props, and mechanical assets.
- Implement physics-based systems like ragdolls, cloth simulation, and procedural animation.
- Develop animation blueprints, state machines, and control rigs in Unreal or Unity.
- Build validation tools for naming conventions, rig integrity, and performance budget enforcement.
- Profile and optimize animation systems, rig performance, and runtime solvers within hardware constraints.
