Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities field from US schools (e.g., English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing).
- 1+ years of teaching experience in English and/or experience working in a college-level Writing Center.
- Demonstrated academic excellence (e.g., 3.5+ GPA).
- Strong verbal skills and mastery of the English language.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites.
- Access to a reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal noise/distraction.
- Commitment to working Tuesdays to Thursdays (1:30 pm – 9:30 pm CST) and Saturdays to Sundays (9:30 am – 5:30 pm CST).
Responsibilities
- Instruct small groups of students in their English core skills to promote long-term understanding of topics and top scores in their college readiness exams (ACT & SAT).
- Track students’ progress as they move through the multi-phase curriculum, engaging them in individualized growth and improvement opportunities.
- Maintain and update student lesson schedules, hold them accountable for assignments, and model professionalism.
- Spearhead the development and creative execution of ever-evolving lesson plans and curriculum.
- Guide middle and high school students with empathy through the competitive college application process.
