Requirements
- PhD in physics, computer science, data science, information systems, or related field.
- Proven track record of in-depth research on scientific AI models, symbolic models, machine learning, or deep learning for scientific discovery.
- Familiarity with state-of-the-art (SOTA) models and best practices in model development.
- Deep understanding of AI/ML concepts and data infrastructure.
- Experience working in cross-functional, remote, startup-style teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to translate technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfort with ambiguity and iterative problem solving.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, and test novel, research‑specific model architectures integrating NLP, symbolic reasoning, and academic literature.
- Prototype and build custom tokenizers for LaTeX symbols and physical units.
- Explore alternatives to transformers and develop reinforcement-learning loops for independent model thought experiments.
- Design and automate data ingestion pipelines for scientific literature, metadata, and experimental data.
- Establish custom benchmarks to assess mathematical reasoning, physical concept understanding, and reliability.
- Run and monitor model training jobs while optimizing costs.
- Develop frameworks to evaluate model learning and implement safety guard-rails to flag poor quality output.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure product feasibility and communicate technical trade-offs to stakeholders.
