Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
- Ten years of casualty claims adjusting experience or related experience.
- Superior knowledge of best claims practices for serious and complex liability claims.
- Advanced knowledge of insurance contracts, medical terminology, and substantive and procedural laws.
- Excellent knowledge of negotiation and alternative resolution techniques.
- Ability to obtain all applicable state adjuster licenses.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report.
- Frequent nationwide travel required.
- Excellent computer skills, specifically with claims systems.
- Relevant insurance designations preferred.
Responsibilities
- Manage litigation of severely complex claims, including analyzing lawsuits and collaborating with defense counsel.
- Investigate and evaluate complex auto and casualty claims by reviewing facts, coverage, contracts, and state statutes.
- Set and update adequate reserves in compliance with company philosophy and methodology.
- Negotiate claim settlements with plaintiff’s attorneys and manage litigation expenses.
- Draft legal documents including reservation of rights and denial letters.
- Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert for other claims team members.
- Identify and pursue recovery opportunities, including coordinating evidence preservation.
