Requirements
- Solid experience with a systems language such as Go, Rust, C, C++, Python, or Java.
- Proven experience building and operating distributed systems in production environments.
- Ability to understand and maintain multi-tenant data systems for speed and reliability.
- Strong product sense with the ability to manage ambiguity and customer requirements.
- Commitment to software craftsmanship with a focus on clean, robust, and performant code.
- Operational mindset with experience in SRE-style work or infrastructure as code.
- Pragmatic approach to problem-solving with short feedback loops.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for asynchronous remote collaboration.
- Experience with profiling and performance engineering tools like pprof or perf.
- Experience with OpenTelemetry or large-scale observability systems.
- Familiarity with operating multi-tenant SaaS infrastructure on Kubernetes.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects from concept to rollout including design, delivery, operations, and customer follow-up.
- Design, build, and operate core distributed database components for ingestion, storage, and query.
- Act as product owner by joining customer calls and translating pain points into technical deliverables.
- Drive operational excellence by meeting SLOs, reducing toil through automation, and managing on-call duties.
- Partner across internal teams including App Observability, Alloy, and Tempo.
- Support team members through design discussions, code reviews, and pairing.
- Contribute to open source and engage the community.
