Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Professional experience in cybersecurity, preferably within a Security Operations Center.
- Demonstrated professional engineering experience.
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, a STEM field, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
- Solid knowledge of Git, GitOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
- Experience with orchestration platforms, particularly Kubernetes.
- Exceptional academic track record.
- Eagerness to contribute to open source security projects.
- Familiarity with security frameworks like NIST CSF, CIS CSC, or ISO 27001 is preferred.
- Hands-on experience in offensive or defensive security teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide operational and engineering leadership within the Security Operations team.
- Implement and evolve the Security Operations Center (SOC) architecture and capabilities.
- Design and develop custom security software and platforms to protect Canonical's infrastructure.
- Monitor for, identify, respond to, and remediate security incidents.
- Assess, audit, and improve security controls across platforms and products.
- Mentor early-career Security Operations engineers.
- Plan and deliver security projects within an agile engineering framework.
- Contribute to open source security projects and publish technical content including whitepapers and blog posts.
