Requirements
- Significant experience building distributed systems or multi-tenant platform services.
- Strong systems fundamentals: concurrency, performance, reliability, and failure-mode thinking.
- Demonstrated record of shipping platform primitives used by other engineers or customers.
- Experience with API design, control planes, and data planes.
- Comfort owning outcomes including SLOs and incident response.
- Excellent written communication skills and crisp tradeoff thinking.
- Pragmatic technical leadership and mentoring experience.
- Go experience is a plus.
- Experience building cloud infrastructure platforms is a plus.
- Experience with IAM and security boundaries for cross-account execution models is a plus.
- Experience with Kubernetes controllers or heterogeneous worker fleet operations is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Create new managed compute primitives for Temporal Cloud with clean APIs and extensibility.
- Design self-optimizing autoscaling systems for worker fleets.
- Define the boundary between the Open Source Server and Cloud compute capabilities.
- Architect, build, and operate services on the hot path of task execution.
- Deliver cloud integrations including IAM boundaries, secure credentials, and networking.
- Ensure system operability through SLOs, metrics, load testing, and incident reviews.
- Ship end-to-end features with a focus on API design and long-term maintenance.
- Mentor team members and drive technical alignment across the organization.
