Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and operating production-grade software.
- Meaningful backend and workflow-heavy development experience.
- Strong proficiency in a modern backend stack; Ruby on Rails experience is a strong plus.
- Track record of owning features end to end and making architectural decisions.
- Strong delivery fundamentals including continuous delivery, feature flags, and automated testing.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and observability (Datadog).
- Experience integrating with third-party systems and APIs.
- Hands-on fluency with or genuine enthusiasm for agentic AI-native development tools like Claude Code.
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with non-technical, clinical, and product partners.
- Experience in healthcare, clinical systems, or other regulated domains is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship backend services, workflows, and integrations that power clinical charting, scheduling, task management, and care coordination.
- Own features end to end from shaping the approach with product and clinical partners through implementation, testing, rollout, and operation.
- Work primarily in a mature Ruby on Rails monolith alongside supporting services and internal tooling.
- Build and maintain integrations with clinical and operational systems, including EHR.
- Practice small-batch, continuous delivery using short-lived branches, feature flags, and automated testing.
- Use agentic, AI-native development tools like Claude Code for design, build, test, and review workflows.
- Write well-tested, observable, and maintainable code instrumented with Datadog.
- Ensure systems operate safely within HIPAA and broader healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Identify technical risks early and drive mitigation strategies.
