Requirements
- High School diploma required; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Active, in-good-standing AHIMA or AAPC credential (e.g., CCS-P, CPC); CPC-A is not accepted.
- Minimum 5 years of recent hands-on physician coding experience in Plastic Surgery.
- Expertise in breast reconstruction, Mohs, cosmetic procedures, skin grafts, flaps, tissue transfers, and pediatric congenital malformations.
- Proficient knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes.
- Strong command of CPT coding, ICD-10-CM guidelines, and modifiers.
- Knowledge of Medicare (CMS/MAC) and Medicaid billing policies for professional services.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows, and EHR/billing systems.
Responsibilities
- Review and accurately code profee Plastic Surgery cases to maximize reimbursement in a timely manner.
- Review and accurately code E/M visits, office procedures, and surgeries.
- Work independently to research coding scenarios.
- Meet daily production goals and a 95% accuracy rate.
- Attend conference calls to provide information and feedback.
- Communicate with leadership on coding or documentation issues and trends.
- Stay current on coding guidelines and maintain professional credentials.
- Participate in coding department and education meetings.
