Requirements
- 5+ years of payroll and benefits administration experience.
- At least 2 years in a standalone or lead payroll/benefits role.
- Experience processing multi-state payroll for a US-based company with 150+ employees.
- Deep knowledge of payroll regulations, tax compliance, and benefits law (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA).
- Hands-on experience with payroll platforms such as Rippling, Gusto, ADP, or Paylocity.
- Strong benefits administration experience, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and supplemental programs.
- High attention to detail and a track record of running clean, accurate payroll processes.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and People teams.
- Strong communication skills for explaining benefits information to employees.
- Experience at a high-growth startup or Series B/C company preferred.
- Familiarity with international payroll coordination preferred.
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist) certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Process multi-state payroll accurately and on schedule, including changes, off-cycle runs, and year-end reporting.
- Administer health, dental, vision, 401(k), and other benefit programs while serving as the primary contact for employee inquiries.
- Plan and execute annual open enrollment, including vendor coordination and system configuration.
- Maintain compliance with federal and state payroll and benefits regulations, including filings and audits.
- Partner with Finance and People teams on payroll reconciliation, headcount reporting, and budgeting.
- Manage relationships with payroll and benefits vendors and drive process improvements.
- Coordinate with the international team in Austria to ensure global compliance.
