Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building and owning backend systems in production environments.
- Real fluency in Ruby on Rails or Go.
- Strong understanding of data at scale, including high-volume pipelines and production load performance.
- Deep knowledge of the tradeoffs between transactional (Postgres) and analytical systems (ClickHouse).
- Strong instincts for correctness, traceability, and robust data modeling.
- Proven ability to ship production code in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
- Excellent collaboration skills with a low-ego, high-ownership mindset.
- Experience with ClickHouse or other columnar databases is a plus.
- Background in logistics, supply chain, or freight/parcel economics is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the core Rails API and backend services.
- Extend and build Go/ClickHouse services for high-performance analytical workloads.
- Make critical data architecture decisions regarding schema design, partitioning, and the OLTP/OLAP boundary.
- Ensure production reliability through monitoring, debugging, and system optimization.
- Lead technical initiatives and mentor other engineers to raise the bar on code quality.
- Collaborate directly with the CTO to define system architecture and team direction.
