Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and maintaining production backend systems using Java, Kotlin, Scala, Go, or similar programming languages.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts, including asynchronous processing, messaging systems, service APIs, storage design, failure handling, idempotency, and observability.
- Experience with or strong interest in LLM-powered applications, AI workflows, and agent-based systems.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity while maintaining engineering quality, reliability, and thoughtful technical decision-making.
- Strong focus on creating valuable experiences for both creators and listeners.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience mentoring engineers and improving engineering standards within a team.
- Commitment to building inclusive, scalable, and maintainable systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of backend services that generate, distribute, and support personalized podcast content at global scale.
- Transform MVPs and prototypes into robust production systems with well-designed APIs, reliable data flows, observability, and operational best practices.
- Shape engineering approaches for AI-powered workflows, including quality standards and reliability practices for generated content systems.
- Build and enhance creator tools that support podcast assets such as transcripts, chapters, previews, clips, guests, topics, and thumbnails.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and cross-functional teams to deliver cohesive product experiences.
- Partner with product and design teams to explore new ideas, make technical decisions, and balance experimentation with long-term maintainability.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to improving technical discussions, architecture reviews, engineering practices, and operational maturity.
- Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement, and strong ownership.
