Requirements
- 7+ years of experience designing, operating, and scaling distributed storage platforms.
- Deep hands-on ownership of production Ceph environments.
- Expert-level Ceph knowledge including CRUSH maps, placement groups, OSD architecture, and MON/MGR/MDS subsystems.
- Experience with RGW, CephFS, RBD, replication, and erasure coding.
- Proven experience performing capacity planning, durability analysis, performance optimization, and failure-domain modeling at scale.
- Experience leading major storage platform upgrades, migrations, and modernization programs.
- Strong automation and software engineering skills using Python and/or Go.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code and orchestration frameworks such as Terraform, SaltStack, and Ansible.
Responsibilities
- Design and architect large-scale production Ceph clusters, including CRUSH topology, failure-domain modeling, and data placement architecture.
- Lead fleet-wide capacity planning, performance modeling, and hardware qualification across 80+ production clusters.
- Own major platform upgrades and migration initiatives, including Ceph releases, OpenStack integrations, and storage modernization.
- Drive resolution of complex cross-functional production incidents spanning storage, networking, virtualization, and compute systems.
- Establish automation, operational standards, and reliability practices to improve platform scalability and reduce toil.
