Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a combined data and infrastructure role.
- Proven track record of building production-grade data platforms from the ground up.
- Deep expertise in Snowflake (schema design, performance tuning, access control, cost optimization).
- Strong, hands-on experience with dbt (modeling patterns, testing) and Airflow (writing DAGs, debugging).
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and solid programming skills in Python for ETL and automation.
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes, including deploying workloads and managing Helm charts.
- Extensive experience using Terraform for infrastructure provisioning.
- Hands-on experience with Datadog for observability and monitoring.
- Familiarity with AWS data-adjacent services like RDS and S3.
- Fluency in utilizing AI-based development assistants for code development and review.
Responsibilities
- Take end-to-end ownership of the data platform's reliability, encompassing pipelines, warehousing, transformations, and observability.
- Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines using Apache Airflow, orchestrating complex workflows.
- Manage and optimize the primary Snowflake data warehouse, handling schema design, clustering, and cost governance.
- Build and maintain the dbt transformation layer, including model design and dependency management.
- Deploy and operate data platform services on Kubernetes (EKS), managing workloads and resource tuning.
- Provision and manage data platform infrastructure, including Snowflake and Airflow, using Terraform.
- Write high-quality SQL and Python for ETL tooling and data product delivery.
- Manage PostgreSQL as a source-of-truth database focusing on optimization and replication.
- Lead the transition toward change data capture (CDC) for data ingestion using tools like Debezium.
- Implement comprehensive observability and SLA tracking using Datadog.
