Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in paleontology, geology, or biology.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant paleontological fieldwork and technical reporting experience.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Ability to travel to job sites as required by project needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform physically demanding outdoor fieldwork.
  • Strong writing, research, and data management skills.
  • Preferred: M.S. or Ph.D. in Paleontology or related field.
  • Preferred: 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred: Understanding of regional geology of the Western U.S. and relevant environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide taxonomic identification of vertebrate and/or invertebrate fossils to genus- or species-level for various projects.
  • Conduct paleontological fieldwork and field monitoring operations.
  • Travel to job sites and conduct fieldwork in uneven terrain in extreme weather conditions for extended periods.
  • Draft technical reports and manage data.
  • Work independently or cooperatively with crew members, supervisors, and clients.
