Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Project/Program Management, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Solid understanding of the mining lifecycle: exploration, feasibility, permitting, construction, and operations.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in the mining industry, with at least 3-5 years managing complex programs or multi-project portfolios.
  • Program/project management certification (PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with government authorities, regulators, and local communities, ideally in Latin America.
  • Track record managing budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams in greenfield or brownfield mining environments.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and risk-management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in program management tools (MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent) and reporting platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication in Spanish and English.
  • Sound judgment, problem-solving ability, and resilience in complex, high-visibility environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end program management for mining initiatives in Central America, integrating exploration, technical studies, permitting, and operational readiness workstreams.
  • Define program scope, objectives, milestones, budgets, and resource plans, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (geology, engineering, environmental, legal, finance, community relations) and external consultants.
  • Manage relationships with government authorities, regulators, and local institutions to advance permits, concessions, and policy engagement.
  • Drive community and stakeholder engagement programs aligned with social license and ESG commitments.
  • Monitor program risks, dependencies, and critical path; implement mitigation plans and escalate issues to the steering committee.
  • Establish governance, reporting cadences, and KPIs across projects; produce executive-level updates.
  • Oversee program budgets, capital expenditure tracking, and vendor/contract management.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, international mining standards, and HSE requirements.
