Requirements

Demonstrated fluency and strong literacy in Hopi and English.
Experience translating formal, academic, legal, medical, or research-related content.
Strong understanding of cultural and linguistic nuances within Hopi communities.
Ability to provide a signed Certificate or Affidavit of Accuracy for each translation.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to meet deadlines and respond professionally to revision requests.
Familiarity with informed consent language and ethical research communications (preferred).
Experience working with Indigenous or culturally sensitive materials (preferred).

Responsibilities

Translate written materials between English and Hopi for research use.
Ensure translations are accurate, complete, culturally appropriate, and research-ready.
Translate documents including informed consent forms, recruitment materials, and study protocols.
Incorporate revisions based on reviewer or subject-matter feedback.
Participate in back-translation or validation steps when requested.
Deliver translations with a signed Certificate or Affidavit of Accuracy.
