Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems or Mechanical Engineering with relevant electrical systems exposure.
  • Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) license is required.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical design for gas turbine, combined-cycle, CHP, or reciprocating engine power plants.
  • Strong experience in power generation or industrial electrical systems engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with major OEM technologies such as GE, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Solar Turbines, Wärtsilä, Caterpillar, or MAN.
  • Proven knowledge of simple-cycle, combined-cycle, CHP, and RICE-based plant configurations.
  • Strong understanding of electrical system design principles, safety standards, and industry regulations.
  • Ability to coordinate across disciplines and lead technical discussions in complex engineering environments.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to participate in occasional travel for site support activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of electrical systems for conventional thermal generation assets, including AC single line diagrams, HV/MV distribution systems, and grounding schemes.
  • Select, specify, and validate electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and instrumentation to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Oversee installation activities, factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting of electrical systems in power generation facilities.
  • Ensure all electrical engineering work complies with applicable codes and safety standards, including NEC and other relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, control, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of systems across plant components.
  • Manage project execution to ensure delivery within defined quality, schedule, and budget constraints.
  • Provide technical leadership and contribute to internal best practices and knowledge development within engineering teams.
