Requirements
- Registered Nurse license in state of practice.
- Associate's Degree in Nursing.
- 2+ years' acute care experience (ED, Urgent Care, ICU or Med/Surg) within the last 4 years.
- Must be available to work every 4th weekend and holiday rotation.
- Demonstrated proficiency with computers, internet, and multi-line phone systems.
- Ability to maintain a quiet space for calls and a stable internet connection.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with empathy and active listening.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient needs telephonically using nursing process and established protocols.
- Determine appropriate level of care and provide detailed education and care plans.
- Prioritize patient interactions by acuity and apply evidence-based practice.
- Escalate and collaborate with on-call providers for additional guidance.
- Document all call encounters in the Electronic Medical Record.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and team meetings.
- Coordinate medical and nursing management including medication refills.
