Requirements
- 8+ years of backend/product engineering experience
- Principal-level engineer experience or equivalent
- 1–3 years of engineering management experience
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding tools (Cursor, Claude)
- Strong OOP fundamentals and experience with Java Spring Boot or Hibernate
- Production experience with LLMs and RAG-based systems
- Proven experience leading system design on significant projects
- Expertise in relational database design and SQL optimization
- Experience designing technical interviews for senior engineers
- Startup experience in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in written communication for remote, async-first environments
Responsibilities
- Write code and ship features for 70-80% of time in the first month
- Own engineering hiring, including designing technical challenges and running screens
- Perform 1:1s with team members focusing on output, quality, and AI efficiency
- Lead system design on major projects and write technical specs
- Scale product for mid-market customers including RBAC and sub-workspace collaboration
- Develop backend architecture for agentic compliance workflows and AI features
- Foster AI-assisted engineering practices across the team
- Evaluate and improve team performance processes
