Requirements
- 8+ years of rigorous software or data engineering experience.
- Proven track record operating at a Staff or Principal level.
- Deep, production-grade experience natively architecting complex backend systems in Clojure and the JVM.
- 4+ years designing high-volume ETL/ELT pipelines at massive scale.
- Experience with medallion architecture (Raw/Bronze, Cleansed/Silver, Curated/Gold).
- Expertise in dbt modeling.
- Extensive experience with BigQuery, Kafka, and processing frameworks like Apache Beam, Flink, or Spark.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
- BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and scale robust data pipelines between Datomic, Kafka, and BigQuery.
- Build fault-tolerant ETL systems to ingest and normalize messy data from third-party APIs.
- Evolve event-driven architecture and optimize streaming performance using Kafka/BEAM.
- Act as a force multiplier by setting backend architecture standards in Clojure.
- Mentor engineering team members and lead high-stakes technical decision-making.
- Partner with Data Science, Product, and Business Development to align infrastructure with business needs.
