Requirements
- Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification.
- Associate degree in Cancer Registry or Health Information Management preferred.
- 2 years of experience as an Oncology Data Specialist or Tumor Registrar.
- Proficiency in Facility Oncology Registry Data Standards (FORDS).
- Expertise in ICD-10 coding and AJCC TNM staging.
- Experience with Collaborative Staging and SEER guidelines.
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR and oncology registry software.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to meet productivity goals.
Responsibilities
- Abstract medical data from EMR for cancer registry compliance.
- Code diagnoses and procedures using FORDS, ICD-10, AJCC, and SEER guidelines.
- Document medical history, diagnostic findings, and treatment modalities.
- Track patient follow-up, recurrence, and status outcomes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and medical terminology.
- Develop and maintain departmental coding policies and procedures.
- Independently research and resolve complex coding issues.
- Assist with special projects and departmental data management protocols.
