Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in at least one State Bar.
- Minimum 10 years of combined law firm and/or in-house legal experience.
- At least 5 years of experience focused on intellectual property law and technology-related legal matters.
- Strong expertise in AI and machine learning legal issues (governance, licensing, generative AI, EU AI Act).
- Technical fluency in software systems, AI/ML technologies, and product development.
- Experience handling technology transactions, software licensing, data protection, and export control compliance.
- Demonstrated executive leadership skills.
- Engineering or other technical degree preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead and evolve the organization’s AI legal and governance program.
- Serve as the primary legal advisor to product management, engineering, and AI/ML teams.
- Design and implement governance frameworks related to AI risk management and product compliance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex technology agreements.
- Support intellectual property strategy and oversee legal matters related to patents.
- Lead legal due diligence and risk assessments for mergers, acquisitions, and strategic transactions.
- Advise on export control regulations and international product deployment.
- Monitor global legal developments in AI, data privacy, and intellectual property.
- Develop internal legal training programs.
- Drive process improvements for scalable product governance.
