Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5+ years in healthcare EDI
- Deep knowledge of HIPAA X12 transactions, HL7 standards, and FHIR-based interoperability
- Strong programming experience in Java, C#, or Go
- Experience building REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, performance tuning, and high-volume systems
- Knowledge of healthcare interoperability, data governance, and security best practices
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is preferred
- Exposure to tools such as Edifecs, XEngine, or related EDI platforms is a plus
- Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams is strongly preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and business stakeholders
Responsibilities
- Serve as technical lead for enterprise healthcare integration initiatives involving HIPAA X12 (837, 835, 270/271, 276/277, 278), HL7, and FHIR APIs
- Define integration architecture standards and ensure engineering best practices across teams
- Design and implement scalable healthcare data exchange solutions using X12, HL7, and FHIR REST APIs
- Build reusable frameworks for data validation, transformation, mapping, reconciliation, and error handling
- Lead modernization efforts transitioning legacy EDI systems to cloud-native, microservices, and event-driven architectures
- Integrate systems with payers, providers, clearinghouses, and external healthcare partners
- Partner with DevOps and SRE teams to automate deployments, improve observability, and enhance system reliability
- Support production troubleshooting, incident resolution, and performance optimization for high-volume systems
- Mentor and coach engineers while conducting design reviews and enforcing technical standards
- Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
