Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in database architecture for large-scale enterprise SaaS platforms
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL in production environments
- 5+ years of experience working with cloud data technologies (e.g., AWS or equivalent platforms)
- 5+ years of experience with NoSQL and distributed database architectures
- Strong knowledge of performance tuning, query optimization, and database scalability patterns
- Experience with database observability, monitoring, and automation frameworks
- Proven ability to define and enforce architectural standards across multiple teams
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills in distributed engineering environments
- Ability to work independently across complex systems and influence without direct authority
Responsibilities
- Assess overall database health, readiness, and architectural needs across the organization
- Identify risks, gaps, and performance bottlenecks in existing database systems
- Define and drive tactical and strategic improvements for database platforms and engineering teams
- Lead initiatives in capacity planning, monitoring, alerting, tuning, and performance optimization
- Oversee schema design, query optimization, sharding strategies, and migration planning
- Improve reliability through deadlock resolution, load optimization, and replication management
- Establish and promote database best practices, standards, and operational health models
- Implement observability and automation using cloud-native and industry-standard tools
- Build and lead a cross-functional council of database experts and champions
- Provide consulting support to engineering teams and assist in critical production incidents when needed
