Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
Professional actuarial credentials (ASA or FSA).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial health insurance underwriting.
Deep understanding of commercial health insurance underwriting.
Experience with clinical data and related analytics.
Proficiency in statistical analysis and risk assessment.
Familiarity with underwriting software and tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and analyze health insurance applications to determine risk and set premium rates.
Interpret and analyze underlying claims experience to inform underwriting decisions.
Collaborate with sales teams to develop competitive insurance products and strategies.
Assist in the development of insurance policies and suggest changes to existing policies.
Monitor and ensure compliance with healthcare legislation and regulations.
Maintain accurate records of policies underwritten and decisions made.
Coordinate with brokers and agents to explain underwriting decisions or gather information.
