Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with 6+ years of experience handling General Liability claims.
- Strong background in complex liability claims, including New York Labor Law and catastrophic bodily injury cases.
- Experience managing coverage issues and understanding insurer liability exposure.
- State insurance adjuster licenses (or ability to obtain and maintain required licenses).
- Strong knowledge of claims investigation, evaluation, reserving, and litigation management practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and general claims systems.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally as required.
Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned inventory of Commercial General Liability claims, including mid-to-high complexity and severity cases, ensuring timely and accurate handling.
- Evaluate coverage applicability, confirm policy terms, and determine appropriate investigation scope for each claim.
- Conduct detailed claims investigations, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure proper reserving and file management in accordance with best practices.
- Handle litigated claims, develop resolution strategies, and coordinate with legal counsel and internal leadership as needed.
- Assess recovery and subrogation potential and support efforts to pursue available recoveries.
- Ensure equitable claim disposition while maintaining compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver high-quality customer service to insureds, brokers, and other stakeholders throughout the claims process.
- Participate in meetings with clients to discuss claims handling capabilities and address specific case needs.
- Collaborate with management on complex or high-exposure claims exceeding authority limits.
