Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the games industry as a technical artist
  • Strong C# knowledge and experience for tool creation
  • Strong Python knowledge and experience for tool creation
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Unity games engine for art and tooling
  • Understanding of Blender modelling package and Blender tool creation
  • Experience profiling CPU, GPU and memory usage
  • Experience designing intuitive user interfaces and user experience (desirable)
  • Experience with tooling for Substance Painter, Substance Designer and ZBrush (desirable)
  • Great technical knowledge in 3D modelling (desirable)
  • Experience optimising for lower-end hardware (desirable)
  • HLSL/GLSL knowledge to create performant shaders (desirable)
  • Amplify Shader Editor experience (desirable)
  • Compute shader knowledge (desirable)
  • Understanding of Unity's Scriptable Render Pipeline (URP/HDRP) (desirable)
  • Proficiency with Shader Graph and VFX for graph creation and custom tooling (desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the tech art lead to deliver art tooling requirements
  • Liaising with art and tech to collaborate tool improvements effectively
  • Driving tool improvement efforts by informing best decisions and ensuring tooling is intuitive to use with great user experience
  • Document tooling improvements for the team to follow
  • Help solve complex technical issues
  • Develop and support art pipelines
  • Ensure the project’s artistic vision is achieved by developing appropriate technical solutions
  • Be proactive, follow standards and best practices, as well as promote them and mentor less experienced team members
