Principal Data Engineer - Ecommerce Company (Colombia)

8+ years of experience in data infrastructure, analytics engineering, or backend engineering. Deep hands-on experience with modern data warehouses (Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or similar). Expert-level SQL skills. Strong proficiency with Python. Proven experience owning and scaling Looker LookML and semantic layers. Experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration workflows (e.g., Apache Airflow or similar). Strong background in data modeling, data architecture, and performance optimization. Experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms (AWS preferred). Demonstrated ability to set technical direction and influence architecture. Excellent communication skills for partnering with various teams and executives.

Own the end-to-end data ecosystem from ingestion to curated datasets. Architect, implement, and scale data pipelines and warehouse infrastructure. Lead design, development, and maintenance of core Looker/LookML models. Define and evolve the semantic layer for business logic. Partner with stakeholders to translate business goals into data architecture. Build and enhance internal data applications and tools. Implement data quality, governance, monitoring, and alerting. Establish standards and best practices for data modeling and BI development. Act as a technical mentor and architectural influencer.
