Requirements
- Must be a former engineer who built impressive products and now builds teams of great engineers.
- Must enjoy coding and keep skills up-to-date.
- Must have the ambition, courage, and follow-through to change things.
- Must not have gone into management solely because it was the only growth path available.
- Must thrive with engineers who have ownership and autonomy.
- Must believe staff and principal engineers lead by example and leverage.
- Must be optimistic and convinced that a large engineering team can function differently from the status quo.
Responsibilities
- Manage three to five Engineers and hire three to five more.
- Provide feedback on product and technical specs.
- Grow engineers to deliver large, loosely defined projects with little intervention.
- Jump into systems and code to debug customer issues, ship bug fixes, or improve developer experience.
- Propose and lead department and company-wide initiatives.
- Design and improve interviews based on feedback.
- Improve how data is generated and simulated in demo accounts.
