About Optimal Dynamics
Optimal Dynamics pioneers AI-driven decision automation for the freight and transportation industry. Your work here transforms how logistics decisions are made, moving companies from manual planning to intelligent, data-driven operations. Born from over four decades of Princeton University research, our platform helps enterprise trucking fleets and logistics providers achieve double-digit revenue gains. We process complex data to optimize everything from strategic planning to real-time dispatch, empowering customers like CRST and Uber Freight to operate smarter and more efficiently. We doubled revenue and customer count last year, backed by $94.8M in funding including a $40M Series C round led by Koch Disruptive Technologies. Now with approximately 70 employees, we are rapidly scaling our impact.
How We Work
Optimal Dynamics fosters a culture of independence, excellence, and continuous innovation. We trust you to deliver exceptional work, focusing on impact rather than rigid office schedules. Our team members, approximately 70 strong, operate with a remote-friendly philosophy. We view our New York City headquarters as a hub for connection and collaboration, not a daily requirement. You'll join a group of bright, kind, and solution-oriented individuals, balancing quick solutions with designs that are secured, reliable, and scalable. We embrace a 'no-blame culture,' encouraging learning and growth from every experience. Collaboration happens in open channels, ensuring everyone contributes to the best solutions.
Engineering at Optimal Dynamics
As an engineer at Optimal Dynamics, you will build robust, scalable solutions that redefine logistics. We solve the complex challenge of turning vast transportation data into actionable, automated decisions for enterprise clients. Our entire infrastructure runs on AWS, leveraging services like DynamoDB, Aurora, SSM, and SQS to power our intelligent platform. You'll craft solutions using Python 3 and Java for backend and AI, and JavaScript/TypeScript for our web-based single-page applications. Our data stack includes Trino, Dagster, dbt, DuckDB, and Preset, supporting sophisticated analytics. Infrastructure-as-Code is managed with Terraform and Spacelift, while our CI/CD pipelines use Bazel, GitHub, and AWS CodePipeline/CodeBuild, allowing for frequent, high-quality deployments. We integrate Generative AI tools like Anthropic Claude, ChatGPT Codex, and GitHub Copilot to enhance our development process. Every pull request undergoes thorough code reviews and unit testing, ensuring a secure, reliable, and maintainable product. You will contribute to a platform that processes massive datasets and delivers real-time optimization.
