How We Work

Cockroach Labs operates with a hybrid work model. If you are near one of our offices, you come in on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. The rest of the week offers flexible work arrangements. Fridays are designated as "Flex Fridays" for growth, learning, or rest. We prioritize productivity over "face time" and support employees working from diverse locations. You can even temporarily work from another city, state, or country.

Engineering at Cockroach Labs

We build CockroachDB, our core database, using Go. Our cloud infrastructure leverages major providers like AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Azure. We use Terraform for infrastructure as code, ensuring consistent and scalable deployments. Prometheus helps us with observability, giving clear insights into system performance. You will engage with distributed systems, Linux, and PostgreSQL-compatible SQL. We also integrate AI-assisted tools like Mica, Claude Code, and ChatGPT into our daily workflows. This approach allows us to solve complex data challenges for our global customers.
