Requirements
- Bring 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
- Use Python or Kotlin to build backend systems.
- Have a track record developing highly available distributed systems.
- Have experience with technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Define technical plans for significant features or system components with elegant, simple, extensible designs.
- Write high-quality code that is easy for others to understand and use.
- Be proficient in making significant changes to large codebases safely, using an established suite of tools and practices.
- Proactively seek feedback from teammates, managers, and stakeholders to support your growth.
Responsibilities
- Own and deliver quarterly team goals, guiding engineers through ambiguous problems and supporting them throughout delivery.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics during ideation; explain technical constraints and help assess risks and trade-offs.
- Identify project, process, technology, and business issues, advocate for solutions, and lead efforts to resolve them.
- Create and monitor operational metrics, escalate issues when needed, and support system availability, keep-the-lights-on work, and on-call efforts.
- Set or improve team code review and design standards, and advocate for standards beyond the team through writing and tech talks.
- Provide feedback and guidance to develop engineers and lead by example.
