Requirements
- Bring 5+ years of experience building and operating production software.
- Have strong experience designing and building backend services and APIs, with attention to correctness, reliability, and data integrity.
- Have experience with distributed systems and event-driven architectures; streaming or messaging systems such as Kafka are a plus.
- Have solid knowledge of relational databases and data modeling; cloud data warehouse experience such as Snowflake is a plus.
- Be able to independently lead feature or service design and identify and fix design flaws in existing systems.
- Have hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider and containerization with Docker and Kubernetes; AWS is preferred.
- Be familiar with CI/CD, infrastructure as code such as Terraform, and observability tools such as Datadog or Grafana.
- Have experience with code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and on-call work.
- Be able to write design documents and work with cross-functional partners.
- Use AI coding assistants and agents, and conversational AI, for development and SDLC tasks.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and run features across billing, usage metering, telemetry, and notifications.
- Write high-quality, well-tested code for production systems.
- Lead technical projects from requirements breakdown and design documentation through planning and rollout.
- Help deliver the Fivetran and dbt billing integration, focusing on accurate usage data, reliable pipelines, and migrations.
- Improve Vortex and the Notification System by onboarding event types and use cases, improving reliability, and lowering cost.
- Work with Product, Finance, Data, and partner engineering teams to clarify specifications and prototype ideas.
- Participate in on-call, resolve production issues, contribute to postmortems, and improve alerting and runbooks.
- Mentor early-career engineers, review code, and promote good engineering practices.
