Requirements
- Experience building and operating customer-facing software or platforms.
- Experience managing high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong technical judgment across backend services, APIs, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and production operations.
- Experience with Python, Go, Ruby, or comparable backend technologies.
- A record of improving customer outcomes and engineering effectiveness.
- Ability to turn complex, ambiguous problems into clear direction.
- Clear, direct communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrate resourcefulness, decisiveness, intellectual curiosity, and personal accountability.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Product, Design, Data, and Operations to identify valuable problems and define success through measurable customer and business value.
- Guide architecture and engineering decisions across the services the team owns.
- Help the team balance speed, reliability, simplicity, and long-term system health.
- Give engineers context, clear decision boundaries, and meaningful ownership.
- Help unblock the team by working across boundaries and finding paths forward.
- Improve execution standards and deliver valuable improvements frequently without sacrificing quality.
- Use customer feedback, product data, incidents, and operational metrics to assess team decisions.
- Hire, retain, and coach engineers; recognize future leaders and address underperformance clearly and promptly.
- Build relationships with engineering, product, and business leaders, and resolve disagreements constructively.
