Requirements
- Have proven hands-on experience in software development using Python.
- Have proven hands-on experience in distributed systems.
- Have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
- Be willing to travel up to four times a year for internal events.
- Experience operating and managing data-platform technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, OpenSearch, Kafka, Yugabyte, Trino, Superset, Atlas, Ranger, or Redis is an additional skill.
- Experience with Linux systems administration, package management, and operations is an additional skill.
- Experience with a public cloud or private cloud solution such as OpenStack is an additional skill.
- Experience operating Kubernetes clusters is an additional skill.
Responsibilities
- Create features for data platforms using high-quality, idiomatic Python.
- Automate data-platform operations, including fault-tolerant replication, TLS, and installation.
- Debug issues and interact publicly with upstream communities.
- Provide data-system domain expertise to other Canonical teams.
- Collaborate proactively with a distributed team to discuss ideas and find solutions.
- Travel for internal and external events, with global travel of 2 to 4 weeks per year.
