Requirements
- Bring strong professional experience in data engineering and hands-on backend development capabilities.
- Demonstrate advanced SQL and T-SQL skills, including database design, data modeling, query optimization, and legacy database improvement.
- Have practical experience designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and integrations in Microsoft Azure.
- Know Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Data Lake Storage.
- Have commercial backend development experience, including REST API development, system integrations, and application functionality.
- Use Git-based version control and sound development practices.
- Bring extensive Power BI experience, including DAX, Power Query (M), Dataflows, and Paginated Reports.
- Be able to evaluate business intelligence platforms, licensing costs, and technical limitations, and recommend alternatives when appropriate.
- Have experience with business process automation and data workflows using Power Automate or comparable technologies.
- Translate complex business and financial requirements into reliable, production-ready data engineering solutions.
- Own projects end to end, from requirements gathering and technical design through development, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- Have experience assessing existing or legacy data environments and implementing cost-effective improvements.
- Communicate technical concepts, financial data, and project outcomes clearly in spoken and written English.
- Work independently, take initiative, solve problems, and make sound technical decisions while collaborating with a small development team.
- Handle confidential payroll, financial, and business information with integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Own data projects from requirements discovery and solution design through implementation, deployment, and production support.
- Assess and improve legacy SQL databases and the broader Azure data environment for performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Build and maintain data pipelines and integrations across Microsoft Azure, HubSpot, Xero, and Stripe.
- Develop data models and safeguard the accuracy, consistency, accessibility, and integrity of business-critical information.
- Automate payroll-related data requirements, invoicing, and repetitive workflows using Power Automate or suitable alternatives.
- Analyze club financial performance, membership utilization, and operational metrics, and produce reports for clubs and internal stakeholders.
- Integrate CRM and financial information to report on campaign expenditure, customer acquisition costs, and business costs.
- Build and maintain backend data services, REST APIs, application functionality, and integrations with external platforms.
- Maintain and improve Power BI dashboards, reports, dataflows, and analytical models; assess alternatives when appropriate.
- Work with the CFO, senior leadership, and developers to deliver technical solutions and communicate decisions and progress.
