Requirements

Have 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong backend development expertise.
Bring experience with financial reconciliation, ledger systems, fraud detection, transaction processing, or payment-related technologies.
Have hands-on knowledge of PCI-DSS requirements as they apply to payment processing and financial reconciliation.
Hold a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or have equivalent professional experience.
Have experience working with large, complex, non-microservices codebases across multiple repositories and legacy architectures.
Be able to trace data flows across disconnected systems and analyze complex technical problems.
Have experience making backend architecture decisions and evaluating technical trade-offs independently.
Have hands-on experience integrating third-party payment processors; simultaneous versions are preferred.
Have strong backend engineering fundamentals; .NET and SQL Server are preferred.
Understand relational database design and operations, including schema modeling, query optimization, and production database locking behavior.
Have experience deploying, operating, and troubleshooting production services in cloud environments; Microsoft Azure is preferred.
Be proficient in at least one programming language, ideally .NET, Java, or Python.
Have experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as Datadog, New Relic, or Honeycomb.
Have extensive experience with automated testing frameworks and software quality practices.
Be proficient with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or equivalent solutions.

Responsibilities

Design and implement automated end-to-end transaction lifecycle tracking to replace manual reconciliation processes.
Develop payment processing capabilities, including automated reconciliation, fraud detection, and chargeback management.
Resolve inconsistencies and reconciliation gaps across two payment processing engine versions and their third-party processor integrations.
Collaborate with the Storefront engineering team to improve data accessibility and establish integrations.
Strengthen the reliability, maintainability, and scalability of critical payment flows.
Contribute to a shared payments architecture connecting the payment processing engine, storefront, and events platform.
Use AI-assisted development tools to navigate complex, undocumented, multi-repository codebases.
Make backend architecture decisions and evaluate service boundaries, data models, and system design trade-offs.
Implement testing, monitoring, and observability practices.
Collaborate with engineering stakeholders to modernize legacy components and evolve the payments platform.
