Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Have 8+ years of experience writing production-grade code in a modern programming language.
- Have hands-on experience with high-scale messaging or streaming systems and processing engines.
- Have experience designing and implementing highly available, performant, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
- Program in Go, Java, Scala, or a similar language.
- Understand concurrent programming, Linux systems, and networking concepts.
- Have experience operating large-scale distributed systems on cloud infrastructure such as AWS or GCP.
- Have experience with message-passing systems such as Kafka or AWS Kinesis, and/or stream-processing systems such as Spark or Flink.
- Have hands-on experience with container orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes, EKS, or ECS.
- Use AI tooling as part of development productivity practices.
- Have experience shipping services using a CI/CD development paradigm.
- Understand architectural patterns for high-scale web applications, including well-designed APIs, high-volume data pipelines, and efficient algorithms.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver robust, high-scale routing experiences for Twilio Segment’s Data platform and pipelines team.
- Ship features that prioritize high availability, throughput, and eventual consistency.
- Collaborate with engineering and product leads and teams across Twilio Segment.
- Support platform reliability and security.
- Build and optimize globally available, highly scalable distributed systems.
- Act as a team tech lead as needed.
- Mentor engineers on technical architecture and design.
- Partner with application teams to deliver end-to-end customer success.
